Remove Radio Files from San Andreas
i don’t know whether the solution already exists or not, i tried searching on net but all what i got was suggestions like just turn off the radio.
turning off the radio doesn’t get you rid off the radio and it keeps switching on once you change vehicles.
so i found another alternative, deleting the radio files from the installed directory.
This is very easy if you know which all files to delete…
assuming you installed the game in “C:\program files\GTASA”, the radio files exist in “C:\program files\gtasa\audio\streams\”
now here is the list of files and what it contains:
| Filename | Station |
|---|---|
| audio/streams/aa | Police |
| audio/streams/adverts | Adverts |
| audio/streams/ambience | Ambience |
| audio/streams/beats | Beats |
| audio/streams/ch | Playback FM |
| audio/streams/co | KROSE |
| audio/streams/cr | K-DST |
| audio/streams/cutscene | Cutscene |
| audio/streams/ds | Bounce FM |
| audio/streams/hc | SFUR |
| audio/streams/mh | Radio Los Santos |
| audio/streams/mr | Radio X |
| audio/streams/nj | CSR |
| audio/streams/re | K-JAH |
| audio/streams/rg | Master Sounds |
| audio/streams/tk | WCTR |

Just delete the file of the radio you do not wish to listen, and you are rid of it!
Update:
Some users have reported that the game ceases to function properly if one of the following files are deleted:
aa, adverts, ambience, beats, cutscene.

well, when i delete that junk my gta doesn’t work anymore, so deleting them is not a solution for me. Anyway if anyone knows how to disable radio email me, it laggs a lot when i get into car, but it stops lagging when i turn off radio…
refer to the update
also refer to the following post by ‘gta_fan’ for the solution
You must have deleted all the radio files Lukefas,
delete the files named only from audio/streams:
——–>
CH
CO
CR
DS
HC
MH
MR
NJ
RE
RG
TK
———————————-
–DON’T– delete these :
AA
ADVERTS
AMBIENCE
BEATS
CUTSCENE
thx a lot, finally i dont have to rage anymore
mine wont let me delete them it only says copy
Hi j-sa
As you have told us that your computer won’t let you delete them. It only allows you to copy it.
I would like to confirm that you were trying to do this from the Windows Explorer.
In addition to that please make sure that the game is not operational at the time.
Also try restarting your computer once before trying the deletion again.
If this does not fix the issue, come back and give more details.
Thanks for you help
So I’ve acquired a copy of SA, shall we say…and I have all the audio files…but the pedestrians aren’t talking, and outside of a cutscene, (cellphones, car-chat, etc) there’s no voice. So what file is messed up that I need to find a replacement for? Or what do I need to do to fix this? Everything else works. Radio, normal sounds, etc. Just phone calls and people talking.
THANX
I WAS STRESSED UP BY RADIO
I COULD HAVE SHRED THE GAME IF IT WASNT FOR YOU
GET ME FULL AUDIO FILES PLEASE I KNOW YOU CAN
you can pause the game go to audio find the radio volume and turn it down to zero like a clver person
Yes. That could be done. But that would have to be done every time you switch vehicles. With this solution, you won’t have to do it ever. plus this reduces the amount of space the game takes up on your disk.
but if i want to hear the user tracks and this method saves around 800mb of my hard disc space
LoL .. if you dont want to hear the radio just like me .. go to option => audio => and make the radio volume mute … it works on me
Yea.. true that.
But it’s not about switching the Radio off coz u don’t like it. It’s coz (for slower systems), the game lags a bit when the game tries to load the radio files. Deleting the radio files cuts that process and allows the game to be played lag-free on older systems.
thanx “gta_fan” your idea to delete some files and retain some files is working great. Also thanx to the originator. Gta_sa is still stable without radio files.
Really thanks man!
This helped me alot, i will never lagg anymore!
